Spring Art Showcase Features Wisconsin Artists in "The Texture of Landscape"

MADISON, WISCONSIN (February 27, 2008)

The Promega Spring Art Showcase spotlights Wisconsin artists providing their interpretations of landscape. "The Texture of Landscape" show includes works in fabric, pastels and oils. Exhibiting artists:

  • Jen Clausen – Intrigued by people and their surroundings, Clausen strives to find the character of the moment. Her work constantly seeks to capture and communicate that moment with paint.
  • Ann Orlowski – Orlowski takes an intentional look at the industrial age as it paves a path through the countryside. Rather than deny the influence humans have on the land, she works with the influence; exploring how beauty is found in a landscape covered by strip-malls and highways.
  • Chris Gargan – Coming from the illustration market, Gargan now devotes all of his artistic endeavors to the Fine Arts. Having come full circle to his first love of Plein Air Painting, he is now fully engaged in the local landscape.
  • John Ribble – With a passion for drawing, Ribble’s sole dedication to art has been a lifetime goal and pursuit. He is dedicated to recording the natural beauty of the open rural areas of Dane, Green and Iowa counties. Ribble works exclusively Plein Air which lends a spontaneous and authentic connection to the land.
  • Sharon V. Rotz – Inspired by nature in Wisconsin, Rotz uses her textile art quilts as a time for experimenting with themes and approaches. She creates her own designs and uses commercial fabrics to their most creative advantage. For Rotz the constant question is "but what happens if..."

"The Texture of Landscape" showcase opens Wednesday March 12, 2008 and continues through June 10, 2008 at the Promega BioPharmaceutical Technology Center in Madison. A public art opening reception will be held on Wednesday March 12 from 4:30pm - 6:30pm.

Promega Corporation has sponsored the artist's showcase since 1996 as part of the company's commitment to creativity and innovation in the arts, cultures and sciences. The Biopharmaceutical Technology Center, located on 5445 East Cheryl Parkway two miles south of Highway 12/18 (Beltline) off Fish Hatchery Road, was developed, in part, to provide Promega employees and community members a place to pursue these goals.

The exhibit is open Monday - Friday 8am - 4pm from March 12, 2008 through June 10, 2008. Daniel Swadener, in conjunction with Promega, is the producer of the art exhibit. For more information he can be contacted through e-mail at swadener@gmail.com or visit his web site at: danielswadener.com
