The Maxwell® 16 Viral Total Nucleic Acid Purification System complies with EU Directive 98/79/EC on in vitro diagnostic medical devices and is designed for automated extraction of viral total nucleic acid (RNA and DNA) from serum or plasma using the Maxwell® 16 IVD Instrument. These sample types are commonly processed in molecular microbiology or virology areas of molecular diagnostics. The kit contains all the necessary reagents in a convenient prefilled cartridge format. The simple protocol involves three main steps. First, lysis buffer and proteinase K are mixed to prepare a lysis solution. Second, lysis solution is mixed with sample. Third, the lysate is added into the cartridges. Purified viral total nucleic acids are ready for analysis in approximately 45 minutes.
