This presentation of real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) theory and practice is ideal for nonscientists working in the field of Molecular Biology/Biotechnology or for scientists new to real-time PCR techniques who want to understand the fundamentals and gain laboratory experience.

Course Content
This class is a three-day overview of real-time PCR technologies. Course topics include; brief overview of nucleic acid isolation, comparison between end-point and quantitative PCR (qPCR), review of existing qPCR techniques, setting up a SYBR® Green qPCR and multiplexing PCR.

Comparative review end-point PCR and real-time PCR techniques  
Review of qPCR techniques  
SYBR® Green PCR: Discuss primer design, optimization, data analysis and application to everyday experiments Use SYBR® dye to track amplification in real–time PCR
Multiplexing PCR: Learn how researchers amplify multiple gene products in a single reaction Fluorescent detection of multiple, amplified gene products
